Separation of PE from PP, PVC, PET

Polyethylene (shortform: PE) is a thermoplastic polymer consisting of long chains of the monomer ethylene. PE is the most widely used plastic. Its annual production amounts to approximately 80 million metric tons. PE is primary used within packaging (notably the plastic shopping bag).

Polyethylene has to be collected, separated and recycled. For a long time this wasn’t as easy as it seems. The reason: Many different sorts of plastics exist. But they are very similar to each other sometimes. Thus it was very hard or nearly impossible to separate PE from PET, PVC, PP or PS.

The German company TLT developed a technology, which made a PE separation possible. With several succeeding separation units the TLT technique is capable to separate the single plastic fractions in high purity. No matter if you have to separate PE from PP, PVC or PS. After the separation the PE can be recycled and led back into the circuit of usage.

The TLT separation technique works with films (PP/PE), bottles (PP / PE / PET) and other materials like PS and PVC. From up to 5 mto input the recycling plants can separate it in single pure fractions of flake.

The separation of PE with TLT machines is very easy. Due to the high separation effect of the TLT technique the most PE- recycling lines in Germany are equipped with this technique. For more information call +49 (69) 69 59 73 69-0!
